TUITION & TUITION ASSISTANCE INFORMATION

Tuition

Tuition for one student in the secondary schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia is $5,350.00 for the 2010/2011 fiscal year. Besides tuition, there are various fees. The difference between the tuition and fees which are charged and the actual cost of operating the school is made up from fund-raising activities

Tuition Assistance and Scholarships

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Although tuition continues to be an excellent value as compared to the tuition in other dioceses and in private schools, we realize that it puts a serious strain on some budgets. In order to assist families in providing for a Catholic school education, the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) has been established. The school's Tuition Office can provide information on how to apply for education loans, which provide eligible borrowers with up to the cost of education including tuition, fees and related expenses. Academic scholarships are given on the basis of academic achievement and need. Financial assistance, based strictly on need, and is available by applying for tuition assistance from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

This award shall not exceed tuition guidelines as established by Monsignor Bonner or Archbishop Prendergast High Schools or the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, which may operate to limit the amount that the Foundation may grant in certain circumstances. Eligible candidates include new and current students to the high schools. Candidates must complete an application and postmark the application no later than March 15, 2011. For a scholarship application, please visit www.fatherbillatkinson.org or Click here for an application.

The Father Bill Atkinson Foundation was chartered in 2008 as a not-for-profit organization. The purpose of this activity is to provide scholarships to students desiring an education at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast who by their own means cannot commit to the financial responsibilities.

Father Atkinson was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School and taught at the school for thirty years. He made a lasting impression on students, parents and fellow teachers and was known for his courage, integrity, sensitivity, patience and spirit. Selection of the scholarship awardees will be based on a reflection of these characteristics as well as an assessment of academic and extra-curricular efforts.

The Joseph P. Caponi Memorial Scholarship

Each academic year the Joseph P. Caponi Memorial Foundation awards scholarships to freshmen at Archbishop Prendergast.  The scholarship is a $2,000 per year award for each of the four years the student is enrolled at Prendie.  If you have any questions about the Foundation or the Joseph P. Caponi Memorial Scholarship, please contact Jim Caponi at 484-431-1213.

The Mary K. Gleason Memorial Scholarship

Mary Kissinger Gleason, a 1975 graduate of Archbishop Prendergast, was a loving wife mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, as well as a life-long resident of Drexel Hill. Mary passed away in 2007 after a three year battle with Synovial Sarcoma cancer.

The Mary K. Gleason Memorial Scholarship was started to honor Mary and also to aid a deserving student whose family is struggling with paying tuition, due to the costly medical expenses of a critically ill immediate family member. It is our hope to assist in tuition expenses and to help ease the burden of the family during a very difficult time. Click here for an application
