student life
Archbishop Prendergast High School activities afford students the opportunity to develop friendly, interpersonal
relationships with their peers. Students learn the pride of community service and the value of self-sacrifice;
the necessity of teamwork in striving for a common goal; the importance of respecting the rights, feelings
and dignity of others; the development of a sense of personal responsibility; the necessity of competent
leadership and loyal fellowship. Colleges and employers tend to confirm the importance of school activities
in a student’s life by their established practice of inquiring about extracurricular activities when they make
a request for a transcript of grades. If participation in activities proves to be detrimental to the academic
life of the student or to her personal growth and development on any level, she will be suspended from all athletic participation for a minimum of four weeks for the sake of returning to the acceptable level of performance, academically and personally.
The activities program is under the direction of the Office of Student Affairs. Any student wishing to initiate
a new activity should contact the Assistant Principal for Student Affairs. All activities are subject to the
availability of a faculty moderator and the approval of the Principal.
